Some people are born to do what they do, that is true of Chef Ryan Crawford.
Ryan has been involved in the kitchen his entire life. He studied at the noted Stratford Chef School and then became an instructor there for four years. He has travelled extensively, staging at The French Laundry and Terra Grill in Napa Valley; l’Orangerie, Lucques and Patina in Los Angeles, and Jardinière in San Francisco. Closer to home, he has worked with Michael Stadtländer and Jamie Kennedy.
Ryan solidified his place in the Canadian culinary scene as Executive Chef of the Stone Road Grille in Niagara on the Lake. It was during this time that he and his good friend Paul Harber of Ravine Vineyard Winery began farming together. Ryan and Paul brought The Happy Pig Farm to Niagara.
Ryan later went on to make his own wine – The Crawford Wine Project. This wine is featured in restaurants across Ontario, and even off the coast of Newfoundland at the Fogo Island Inn.
Lindsay has been a competitive athlete for many years building up to her participation on Canada's National Rowing team, and now as an elite cyclist training out of the Niagara Region. Lindsay has channelled her love for a highly competitive environment into her passion for cooking as the Junior Chef at Backhouse in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Lindsay’s healthy cooking not only fuels her body for the intense training she undergoes daily, but also helps her to maintain her weight throughout the year. Lindsay fully believes that healthy meals do not have to sacrifice flavour, and that you can be just as happy eating something that is really great for your body, as you are eating pre-packaged or convenience foods that many of us have become reliant on.
Lindsay will be leading our long ride at Ride the Vine and is excited to meet all of you!
Staff Meal Niagara: Chef Tania Ganassini and Amanda Ali
Staff Meal Niagara is a nutrition-focused, plant-based meal delivery program for busy, health conscious individuals who do not want to compromise on quality or deliciousness. At Staff Meal we are especially passionate about feeding those who serve others and work long hours.
We believe in eating food that nourishes and heals the body from within, focusing on whole, nutrient- dense foods, sourced as locally and sustainably as possible. Staff Meal was co-founded by Tania Ganassini and Amanda Ali, two friends who share a love for food and food puns.
Tania, a plant-based chef who has worked in top restaurants in Toronto and Italy, now leverages her fine dining background to change perceptions around what healthy food can taste and look like.
Amanda, trained in global health and nutrition, has brought her international project management experience in Kenya and India home to Niagara to promote health and wellness through food.
Staff Meal aims to shift cultural paradigms around nutritious eating and workplace wellness, while being leaders in quality plant-based food. Lettuce nourish you!
Ride the Vine will be donating ALL proceeds from the event to Second Harvest.
Second Harvest is the largest food rescue organization in Canada and a global thought leader on food recovery.
With a goal to drastically reduce the amount of food wasted while ensuring people have access to the good, healthy food they need for success, Second Harvest works across the supply chain from farmer to retail to capture surplus food before it ends up in the landfill and negatively impacts our environment.
Since 1985 we have rescued and delivered more than 127 million pounds of food and prevented over 70 million pounds of greenhouse gas equivalents from entering our atmosphere. Currently, we rescue food from over 470 donors and deliver that food to 253 social service agencies in Toronto and food hubs across Ontario, providing enough food for 30,000 meals a day.
No Waste. No Hunger.
We are THRILLED to be supporting Second Harvest through Ride the Vine!
Stratus Vineyards and The Market at the Village will be hosting us all weekend!
